I’ll be real with you: I’m grateful for door-to-door. It taught me how to work hard, how to face rejection, how to close. Those skills have paid me over and over again in life.

But here’s what I didn’t want: I didn’t want to wake up one day after years of crushing summers with nothing to show for it except a nice truck. We’ve all seen it — the guy who says, “This is my last summer,” but then has no plan, no safety net, no cash flow. The cycle repeats.

That’s why I started treating my commissions differently. Instead of letting them slip away, I used them as gas. Real estate became the vehicle. And the destination? Control. Freedom. Options.

It’s not about leaving sales behind. It’s about setting yourself up so that one day, if you want to walk away, you can — not because you have to, but because you’ve built something that gives you the choice.
